Hey all,
Finally a break from all the rain! It was nice to see some blue sky this morning. As i sit in my bed looking at race registration and running gear etc. I am getting so excited for our training to officially kick off.
I have been off running since the 17th of december because of elbow surgery, which is feeling alot better as the days go on. I am tired of being in a straight arm cast, I thankfully get it off on the Fourth of January and will back swimming, biking and running asap! Fingers crossed this will be the last surgery. This one being my second in six months.
I little moments of panic where i think i am trying to bite off more then i can chew so close to surgery and recover and such. But at the same time i know we can do it! \it not like we haven't run long distances before. We arent beginner runners wanting to take on the 100.
this is gunna be tough, But im really lookinf forward to the challenge

Noel-Boxing Day Blogging
Hey everyone,
A Merry Christmas to all! I hope all you gentle viewers/readers got some good cardio with Boxing Day shopping-kudos to you (or if you avoid BX Day shopping kudos to you too). I'm sure i may have helped a few of you in your shopping needs today while i was at work. Working at North Shore Athletics is awesome.
I any case, a big thing on my mind the past few days has continued to be planning for the Fat Dog, and what that will mean for me personally. Bear with me while i voice my main hurdles for the coming 7 months-just to give you some insight into my mindset!
-Nutrition: What to eat and when, how much, etc.
-I have always been fairly good about what i eat - holidays notwithstanding (impulse control for holiday goodies hasn't been the best...), but this challenge brings new options. With the increased workouts i WILL have to consume more calories to replace any that I burn, and give me enough energy to keep up the workouts and aid in my recovery time from one day to the next. Since I started seriously running i went from about 160 a few years ago (for some backstory) I currently sit at roughly 132 pounds of lean running weight (i was at 127 during the summer-but with school comes more limited time to work out.), but i'm thinking i'll need to gain about another 8-10 pounds of muscle in order to have the physical ability to endure to Fat Dog. *If anyone has other thoughts you are more than welcome to let me know!*
-Sleep patterns!:
-i am certain that this will need to change - consistently being up until between 12:30am-1am on average will not do! Again it comes down to making sure i have energy from one day to the next and allow my body time to recharge properly. This will likely also help my drive to keep up with scheduled workouts. That's another thing:
-Keeping up workouts:
-drive is currently up and down due (i think) to altered habits during the winter break, but with planning for the Fat Dog kicking into gear, and the plan to do it not only to check it off the epic to-do list, but to do it for other people will certainly help it go on when Emily and I kick into full gear beginning Jan.9th!
In any case, thank you for bearing with me during my ramblings-most will be more current, and not backstory.
Again, Merry Christmas to all, and a Happy New Year!

the verrryy first!
So it's 3:30pm sitting in Starbucks on 13th, and after a few seconds of looking at the computer, hoping that this would write itself, it's time to type our first post!
So-welcome! We are getting excited about the Fat Dog-our 100 kilometer epic trail race through Manning Park, which is-to the day-7 months from now! *Augh!*
So stress and excitement mixed, we're into the stage of planning-how to train, how often to train, nutrition, documenting, and everything in between.
It's very cool to think about it, as we are 22 (Noel) and *soon-to-be* 20(Emily), and last year the youngest female was 28, and youngest male being something like 31-we are BY FAR the youngest to attempt this-and may be for some time to come!
are we insane?!?.....quite likely, but oh well....
